Message From Pastor Don ~ August 2nd 2020

I decided to go back to Psalm 145 after listening to this text read in several services today. On special occasions when table prayer was offered we did not do a family version, but my father would offer the words of Psalm 145:15 “The eyes of all wait upon you, O Lord, and you give them their food in due season. 16You open wide your hand and satisfy the desire of every living thing.” Of course Dad added an Amen as was fitting.

There was power in that table prayer when I first heard it as a child and wondered where Dad learned it. It must have been in his catechism studies or at the foot of his father as family gathered together for meal. We learn a lot with the family at table and I have fond memories of Sunday dinners with an enlarged nuclear family until we moved away before my 11th birthday. After that move on special occasions the prayer would be said and my mind would go back to some of those great family gatherings.

Today I wait for the Lord to be sustained for the life I am living in the midst of a great family of friends near and far who are sharing God’s love.
