Message from Pastor Don ~ August 3rd 2020

I Kings 19:11 The Lord said, “Go out and stand on the mountain before the Lord, for the Lord is about to pass by.” Now there was a great wind, so strong that it was splitting mountains and breaking rocks in pieces before the Lord, but the Lord was not in the wind; and after the wind an earthquake, but the Lord was not in the earthquake; 12 and after the earthquake a fire, but the Lord was not in the fire; and after the fire a sound of sheer silence.

Are you looking for God in all of this Covid mess? He might be with the people stuck in nursing homes and infected, both the patients and nursing staff. He might be with teachers and staff trying to figure out how to educate our children in the midst of uncertainty. He might be in people who want to get back to in-person worship because, even masked, we like to see our friends. It is like Elijah looking for God’s presence in the natural disasters, but God did not speak to Elijah in any of these destructive events.

God spoke following sheer silence and gave Elijah his marching orders to do God’s business. I encourage you to go to God in the midst of sheer silence and listen for your marching orders. God has something great in His plan that he wants you to do. Pause in the silence and wait for the Lord!
