From Romans 10:8b “The word is near you, on your lips and in your heart” (that is, the word of faith that we proclaim); because if you confess with your lips that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. 10 For one believes with the heart and so is justified, and one confesses with the mouth and so is saved.

Paul talks about the two parts of faith. One part is what we believe in our heart. What is there in our heart that we sometimes hold on to privately (piety). Based on God’s Word we trust and believe certain things about our relationship with God. But we are sometimes hesitant, even within our family, to share what our heart feels.

The second part is the witnessing to what is in our heart (action). We must be willing to live as a witness that we have been changed by a relationship with Jesus. We must speak, live, and act like a true disciple. This takes study, reading the scriptures, being around strong Christians, and opening ourselves to the power of God’s Spirit and moving feelings through our lips to speech.

What makes you a stronger Christian in your daily journey?
