Isaiah 55:10 For as the rain and the snow come down from heaven,
and do not return there until they have watered the earth,
making it bring forth and sprout,
giving seed to the sower and bread to the eater,
11 so shall my word be that goes out from my mouth;
it shall not return to me empty,
I know it is hard for many of us living in these days which seem harsh. We may even feel that we are in exile from God’s marvelous grace, left alone, waiting for the good times. We are not alone. There have always been faithful people waiting for God’s good life to come and always feel shorted because it appears beyond us. It is a historical thing, also. That is a time to feel the drought, but remember God is still with you.
The life cycle of rain and snow reminds us that the good life is also cyclical. Wait the fresh rain is coming. The melting snow waters the earth and returns. The Word of God continues to be heard and waters our Spirit. Each time we re-read the Bible or our favorite chapters, the Spirit brings something new to us. Our mind is watered in the Word and we grow in faith.
