A MESSAGE FROM THE CHURCH COUNCIL
Hello All,
I am glad to report that most of the sick church members are feeling better. We thank you for the continued prayers.
The church will be cleaned on Tuesday & common surfaces sanitized per CDC recommendations. We expect to resume normal church function again on Wednesday, April 24th with the normal church services resuming on Sunday, April 28th.
To all members & visitors, please rest assured that we have followed the recommended precautions to return the church to a covid-free work and worship environment. To those who do not feel 100%, please come back & participate when you feel comfortable in doing so. Do know that you remain in our prayers. We look forward to seeing all your smiling faces again soon.

A NEW WAY TO GIVE
If your bank uses Zelle as a means to transfer funds you can now give or tithe using this protocol. Simply log in to your personal bank account and select transfer using Zelle. When asked for an account to transfer funds to use the phone number (361) 244-1848 and it will go to the account of Holy Cross Lutheran Church. There will be a place to notate what funds are for such as “General Fund” or “Playground”. Zelle will not charge any transfer fees so what you give is what the church receives.
MAUNDY THURSDAY, we shared in our Seder Meal. Guest arrival, Washing of feet (Optional) followed by the Seder Meal and a short Service.
During the course of the evening we had:
four cups of wine
veggies dipped in saltwater
flat, dry cracker-like bread called matzah
bitter herbs, often horseradish (without additives) and romaine lettuce, dipped into charoset (a paste of nuts, apples, pears and wine)
Each item has it’s place in a 15-step choreographed
combination of tastes, sounds, sensations and smells that have been with the Jewish people for millennia.
Holy Week saw a lot of activities from our Palm Sunday procession to Maundy Thursday and our Seder Meal. The week continued with Good Friday and culminated on Easter Sunday with a Sunrise Service on Rockport Beach followed by Easter Sunday service at Rockport Lutheran Church.
The children of Holy Cross take part in many aspects of our services. They are a joy to see and their sharing in the services surely brightens our hearts.
The Holy Cross Lutheran choir was out and about this Christmas season. Shown here they are preparing for “Christmas in the District” as they shared Christmas carols in downtown Rockport.
Kathy Ricketts, a student in the “Harvest Workers” program, was ordained at Holy Cross Lutheran Church on December 17, 2023 during the worship service. Pastor Bryce Formwalt and Pastor Mike Giese officiated. There was a reception for Pastor Kathy after the service.
Kathy has accepted a call from Abiding Savior Lutheran Church, Cameron, Texas. She looks forward to serving the people of Abiding Savior as their full-time pastor and thanks Holy Cross Lutheran Church for the love and support that you have given her during her preparation for ministry.
God Bless Kathy and her ministry at Abiding Savior.
A nativity was obtained thru Castaways and was then repaired, painted and placed in the front of the church building by Pastor Mike and Luscious. Great job guys!
Holy Cross Lutheran Church OktoberFest 2023 is in the books !
What a joy to see such success for our Youth Playground Fundraiser. Thanks to so many that envisioned the Fest, put it together, and saw it through. A great turn-out enjoyed the food, activities and games. Thank you generous Donors !

The Oktoberfest Fund Raiser for our future Community Playground and Beach Volleyball Court was a great success. Lots of folks were fed and entertained with great German food and hayrides and other events.
